How to Support Fair Trade
Coffee TalkWHAT IS FAIR TRADE?
Our friends at Fair Trade USA said it best: “Fair Trade is defined as a global movement made up of a diverse network of producers, companies, consumers, advocates, and organizations putting people and planet first.”
More plainly said, Fair Trade is a certification that means you as a consumer can assume that every point in the creation of the goods in your hands was equitable, fair and safe. It also means that the communities where the product is grown are being invested in, not exploited. And when it comes to products like coffee where so often farmers are taken advantage of and lands are destroyed, this certification matters a hell of a lot.
If you’re new here, welcome and where the f*ck have you been? But more importantly – all Death Wish Coffee coffee products are Fair Trade USA Certified. We put our values where our mouth is. It’s the same place we put our coffee, come to think of it.
HOW CAN I SHOP FAIR TRADE?
They made it super easy–there’s a cute lil certified label on all Fair Trade USA products. When you see that label, you can trust that safeguards have been put in place both for your safety and health, as well as those of the farmers & producers, and the planet.
You can also always check out the Fair Trade USA website for featured products and brands by industry.

HOW CAN I SUPPORT BEYOND MY CUP?
If life was a movie in the Saw franchise, consumers are Jigsaw. YOU are the one that gets to call the shots. It might not feel that way as grocery prices increase... but don’t let ‘em fool you. The power is in your hands and your wallet. Consumers have more power than ever to influence the ethical practices of the brands they love.
By demanding transparency and accountability, consumers can push companies to adopt higher standards that benefit farmers, communities, and the environment. Ask your favorite brands that aren’t yet certified... WHY? Maybe they have no idea that doing so ensures fair wages, safe working conditions and sustainable practices – and that not doing so nearly guarantees the opposite. Or maybe they’re hoping you just won’t notice.
We can use our voices to support companies that prioritize ethical sourcing and to our homies that don’t, we can start to hold them to a higher standards. Until then, you know you can always trust everything here to be Fair Trade and in support of coffee growing regions everywhere.
