Flavor Profile: Pat Gerasia, Drummer of Red Sun Rising
Playing drums in a rock band and touring the world can require a lot of energy and a lot of caffeine. Red Sun Rising is a band from Ohio that is just about to release their second record and go on tour, so we caught up with one of the band members to ask what keeps him going on the road. Also, the band just released their newest single called "Deathwish," which is a really amazing name, don't you think?
What is your name?
Pat Gerasia.
What do you do?
I am the drummer in the band Red Sun Rising.
What is a daily routine you swear by?
On the road, I wake up and have at least three or four cups of coffee, and I try to read a book to get my brain moving a bit. I am a huge Stephen King fan; I probably read 11 of his books just last year. I read a lot of nonfiction too. Other than that, I get my drum pad out and practice. On the road, you are always chasing that feeling of normal, that feeling of being back home, until it is time to play the show.
How do you drink your coffee?
I have a lot of coffee stories on the road because the other guys call me "Barista Pat." If you room with me in a hotel, I am waking up and making you a cup of coffee. I really enjoy doing it.
